La Mascota is not only a winery of high-end signature wines but also the result of the dream of a winemaker who dedicated his whole life to maintain the family winemaking tradition.
Located in the Argentine province of Mendoza, it produces bottles of excellent quality recognized worldwide and reflects like few others the identity and characteristics of the soil where its vintages are grown.
La Mascota is the brainchild of winemaker Rodolfo Opi Sadler, who comes from a family with a history of winemaking. Opi belongs to the third generation of winemakers. His grandfather was born in Sadleri, a small Italian village where he worked planting vines. As it happened with thousands of Europeans, at the end of the 19th century he arrived in Argentina with a suitcase full of dreams.
He settled in Mendoza and, after acquiring his vineyard, he built a small winery, starting a family tradition.
Years later, his grandson Opi would found his firm, the fruit of the love for the vines he inherited from his family. The wines produced by La Mascota are called signature wines because, in addition to summarizing the history of his family, they have a strong personal imprint.
La Mascota winery is located in Maipú, Mendoza province. The vineyards from which its grapes come are located in that same city and also in Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.
This region is located 850 meters above sea level and is characterized by a wide temperature range between day and night. The soils are alluvial and clay-loam, with rocks at a depth of approximately 60 centimeters.
The average age of its vineyards is 30 years old and the main varieties produced are cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, syrah, malbec, pinot noir, and chardonnay.
La Mascota is widely recognized globally as a premium winery. Its 2016 cabernet sauvignon was distinguished as the “best red wine in the world” at the prestigious Vinalies Internationales 2018 competition.
Its bottles are currently exported to more than 35 countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, China, Laos, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, among others.
